Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Suppport and Breakthrough Breast Cancer...

Last year, Dianne lost a friend to Breast Cancer. This year she's witnessed how early diagnosis can make all the difference.

"I think we should do all we can to help Breakthrough Breast Cancer fund their research.

I've also heard from several families about the support they have received from the Macmillan Nurses, so I have decided to support them too."

07 - Steaming Success!

The Gift Fair and Coffee Morning held on the 17th October has raised a staggering £326!

Big thanks to everyone who came along and helped, to those who donated raffle prizes and to those who put their hands in their pockets too!

Why...?

To celebrate her 60th birthday next January, Dianne has decided to do something rather special.

Ten years ago, she decided she needed to do some extra exercise and a friend asked her to join her in training for the Race For Life. That's a 5k race and from there, Dianne has never stopped running!

She's taken part in several Race For Life events (helping to raise funds and awareness for cancer charities), the New Forest Half Marathon, the Great North Run, three Great South Runs and three London Marathons!

In 2008 and 2009 she competed in the Playtex Moonwalk - 26.2 miles through the streets of London, during the night and wearing a bra!

So what next? Well, now Dianne has set herself another challenge. She's gone as far as a Marathon and as high as Snowdon (twice!), so in January 2010 she's going for endurance!

With a team of Diddlers in hot pursuit (and in support, of course!), Dianne will run/walk along 60 miles of the South West Coastal Path - from Sidmouth to Lulworth. The aim is to complete the route in five days.

Also supporting Dianne will be husband Ron. He's in charge of transport and will be solving the logistical challenge of moving Dianne's lyrcra and liniment, every day.

Dianne also has the support of her two sons and grandson Owen, although at just over 18 months, it's unlikely we'll see him cross the finish with a sprint!

And where and when will Dianne be running/walking?

Well, it's all kicking off on Wednesday, 6th January.

Dianne's still finalising the legs - the route not hers!

Here's the provisional schedule:

Wednesday, 6th January Budleigh Salterton to Sidmouth - 8 miles

Thursday, 7th January Sidmouth to Seaton - 10 miles

Friday, 8th January Stonebarrow to Westbay - 8 miles

Saturday, 9th January Westbay to Abbotsbury - 10 miles

Sunday, 10th January Abbotsbury to Weymouth Clock - 14 miles

Monday, 11th January Weymouth Clock to Lulworth - just a whisker over 10 miles

Tuesday, 12th January Cake Day!
